An earlier bird was seen, described, but not photographed in the same yard on 17 February 2003. Same bird?

Note: This is a bird of the more southern subspecies, Sphyrapicus ruber daggetti, probably a female.

CURRENT STATUS: Accidental (code 6) during migration in the western part of the state. This is only the 2nd or 3rd "good" record -- and apparently the first for winter.
