This report is an interesting one. As noted from the email correspondence provided below, the hummingbird host (B. Dorrell) is absolutely convinced this bird was a Costa's Hummingbird, as is S. Lindsay who also saw the bird. Lindsay's supporting report, if even submitted to IBRC, is nowhere to be found, but Dorrell submitted several emails between her and others, including Lindsay, in support of this claim.

Other observers who did submit reports believe the bird is either a pure Anna's (Weller), perhaps an abberant Anna's (Svingen, et. al.), or a possible hybrid Costa's X Black-chinned (Goble). Comments by those who reviewed photographs and reports muddy the water even further, adding Costa's X Anna's hybrid to the mix (Williamson).

Since the homeowner and Lindsay are so adamant that the bird is a Costa's, we are submitting it here under that banner, leaving it up to the Committee to sort out the details.
