Shirley Sturts -- Reject, specific identification not established From the bill description it sounds like these were probably Yellow-billed Loons but the documentation is rather sketchy |
07-05-2007. Sturts -- Reject, specific identification not established I'm staying with my first vote to reject due to lack of documentation. |
Chuck Trost -- Accept Even though the description is rather brief, I know nattilie to be a careful observer, and believe she and another saw two YBLO. |
07-14-2007. chuck trost -- Reject, specific identification not established While I truly believe that this is a careful observer and that she believed this is what she saw, she doesn't describe it well enough to accept for such a rare bird. |
Dave Trochlell -- Reject, specific identification not established The documentation for this potential record was insufficient, especially in that it wasn't clearly demonstrated why these loons were not Commons. |
07-12-2007. Dave Trochlell -- Reject, specific identification not established As before, I'd say there's not enough detail offered here in the description. |
Cliff Weisse -- Accept My vote to accept this record is for the adult only. An adult loon in April in full, or almost full, breeding plumage that has a yellow or pale bill could only be a Yellow-billed Loon. As for the non-breeding/juvenile individual I don't feel the descriptioin is sufficient to rule out Common Loon. |
7/8/07. Cliff Weisse -- Reject, specific identification not established After reading first round comments I agree that we should not accept this record given the brevity of the description. |
Carlisle -- Reject, specific identification not established Certainly possible but not enough detail. |
7-22-07. Carlisle -- Reject, specific identification not established I remain unconvinced ... may be true (especially for the adult bird) but not enough detail. |
dumroese -- Reject, specific identification not established Insufficient details. No information on optics, distance, weather, and bill profile. Could a shiny bill appear light-colored? |
17 July 2007. Hardy -- Reject, specific identification not established These birds may have been Yellow-billed Loons, but the report does not contain sufficient description. |
Charles Swift -- Reject, specific identification not established There really is no description of the bird(s) reported. Also timing is reasonable for northbound Common Loons but seems late for Yellow-billed Loon. |
7/7/06. Charles Swift -- Reject, specific identification not established I'm rejecting again due to scant details although I do agree w/ Cliff that it's possible/likely an adult YB Loon was seen. Also w/ recent April YB Loon at Lake Pend O'reille, timing does seem reasonable. |
