DESCRIPTION: Size and appearance similar to mouring dove but with a very bold white linear wing patch on lower edge of the perching bird's wing. No spots on the back, tail squared, black cheek mark and blue orbital ring clearly seen.
BEHAVIOR: Dove would come to the backyard feeder on the fence about 30 feet from the house. Bird would come to the feeder in the morning between 7 & 8 a.m., or in the evening about 4:30 -6:30 p.m. or both.

HOW AND WHEN DID YOU POSITIVELY IDENTIFY THE BIRD, AND WHAT CLINCHED THE IDENTIFICATION FOR YOU? Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at about 10 a.m.
HOW DID YOU ELIMINATE SIMILAR SPECIES, AND WHAT WERE THEY? White wing bar and lack of spots on the back eliminated the mourning dove. The white wing bar, smaller size, black cheek mark seperate it from the Eurasian Collared-dove. Both the mourning and Eurasian Collared-dove were present for comparison.
