LOCALITY OF OBSERVATION: W. Walnut St, Hailey Idaho
HABITAT: residential
CONDITIONS: Watched about 5 minutes, a very cool spring and a nice sunny day, I took video of the bird as it moved from under my mother's front porch.

DID YOU CONSULT FIELD GUIDE OR OTHER REFERENCES?: Yes, later the same day
WHAT GUIDE(S) OR REFERENCE(S) DID YOU CONSULT?: DESCRIPTION: ground birds. Short round with stubby tail. All white
BEHAVIOR: Walking from yard to yard

HOW AND WHEN DID YOU POSITIVELY IDENTIFY THE BIRD, AND WHAT CLINCHED THE IDENTIFICATION FOR YOU? I looked in our field guide and showed the video to local bird folks.
HOW DID YOU ELIMINATE SIMILAR SPECIES, AND WHAT WERE THEY? There really aren't many. The tail and body shape and the video was pretty telling

EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SPECIES (AND SIMILAR SPECIES): None. I have only seen quail before
GENERAL BIRDING EXPERIENCE: I love birds and have gone on bird counts before. I can only identify a few birds by song but many American birds by sight.
