Thayer's Gull
Record #37-B-08

1st Round: 7-0

1st Round

4/1/09
Cliff Weisse -- Accept

Because this description is very similar to the description of 38-B-08 I'm a little uneasy about accepting this record.  I'd like to see more structural information included in the description and I have some of the same reservations about the details included in the description.  However I feel the inclusion of the orbital ring color ("maroon"; THGU has purplish orbital ring) eliminates GWGU and GW hybrids with HEGU and WEGU which have pink to yellow orbital ring.

Very complete description and similar gulls were eliminated.

The wing pattern, size, back color, eye color, bill size and shape all sound good to me for Thayer's adult.

I'm convinced.

The description of size, underwing pattern, mantle color and orbital ring color eliminates other possible candidates including hybrids.

good description (but might be worth excluding an adult Iceland as well as adult hybrids??)
