Good description and photos leave no doubt that this is an adult Thayer's Gull

The report was convincing - similar gulls and hybrids eliminated.

Great documentation and very convincing images!

The write-up was adequate, but the pictures were of poor quality. On the last picture I finally saw diagnostic characteristics of a Thayer's adult.

I was convinced by the rounded head, eye placement and primary tip pattern shown in the photos.

Well described and photographed adult Thayer’s (Larus thayeri). While underwing coloration not mentioned (possibly not visible), and specific patterning of primaries not discussed in detail (except for “large mirrors in the outer primaries”), the photo of the outstretched wing does show the diagnostic “striped” primaries resulting from the pale grey to whitish inner web of the outer feathers (particularly P7-P9).
