DESCRIPTION: Diurnal Raptor - I submitted the photos to Cliff Weise.
BEHAVIOR: HOW AND WHEN DID YOU POSITIVELY IDENTIFY THE BIRD, AND WHAT CLINCHED THE IDENTIFICATION FOR YOU?
When I sent the pictures to Cliff Weise - he identified the bird.
HOW DID YOU ELIMINATE SIMILAR SPECIES, AND WHAT WERE THEY?I thought it might have been a Harlan, but I thought it was a Swainson's and Cliff confirmed that.EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SPECIES (AND SIMILAR SPECIES):
I have observed them further west (about 50 miles) during the summer.
