There just isn't enough detail to accept such an unusual bird (2-4 accepted records for Idaho I believe). |

I still think the sighting too brief and the details lacking too many specifics to accept such a rare bird for Idaho. |

Sounds like it could be a Scarlet Tanager female but I'm not entirely convinced with this brief description. I wish it had stayed around long enough to get its picture taken. |

I'm staying with my first round vote for the same reason. |

A bit thin on the description, but the lack of wingbars and direct comparison to Western Tanagers seems sufficient. |

I am changing my vote. Although it seems unlikely that the heavy bill of a Summer Tanager would not have been noticed, the brief nature of the observation leaves the small possibility open. |

Observation too brief and description not adequate to eliminate either summer of hepatic tanager. |
7-30-10
Again, too brief a write-up and no picture. |

Wish there were more details, a picture, or something but the female Scarlet does stand out from the Westerns in her 'plain-ness' |

While I believe that's what Kathleen saw, the report is regrettably scant on details and Chuck's point about separation from Hepatic &/or Summer convinced me to change my vote. |

This was an intriguing report, but not totally convincing to me. The too-brief description read: "solid greenish back and the lack of wing bars". Unfortunately, this could also describe a female Painted Bunting. |
