08-12-2007. Sturts -- Accept A very detailed and convincing report. Cliff carefully eliminated all other possible hummingbird species.
23 August 2007. Hardy -- Accept Well described. Shape of primaries, deeply notched tail, white throat, bill shape, lack of rufous, and behavior, are diagnostic.
09-01-2007. Dave Trochlell -- Accept Thanks to Cliff's informative, well-organized, and thorough description, I can readily support his identification of this hummingbird as a RTHU.
9-2-07. Carlisle -- Accept Thorough observation & description.
09-06-2007. chuck trost -- Accept Very careful observation and description, plus the timing, which I think is too late for a black-chinned. The forked tail and wing shape convinced me.
20 Sept 2007. Darren Clark -- Accept I'm nervous about accepting a 2nd state record without photographs, but the report is well-written, seems to support the identification of this bird as Ruby-throated Hummingbird, and eliminates other species.
04-12-2008. Doug Ward -- Accept Characteristic plumage details well described. Recognition of consistent patterns of these very subjective features in the Archilochus hummingbirds will undoubtedly result in more Ruby-throateds being reported in our area. We will have to pay close attension as they roll in. "Tail wagging", or rather lack-there-of, behavior also an importent key noted. Good bird!
