11-30-2008. chuck trost -- Accept Good description |
11-30-2008. Sturts -- Accept Excellent description of an immature male. The description elimnated the similar female Black-headed Grosbeak. |
2 December 2008. Hardy -- Accept A somewhat incomplete description, but diagnostic red underwing coverts noted. |
12-04-2008. Darren Clark -- Accept Although not as straight-forward an identification as an adult male. The report has all the details to support the identification of this bird as a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and eliminated Black-headed Grosbeak. |
12-12-2008. Doug Ward -- Accept While immature male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (Pheucticus ludovicianus) can be tough to discern from juvenile Black-headeds (P. melanocephalus), the observer did a good job describing the key features, particularly wing lining coloration, to substantiate identity as well as discuss the possibility of a hybrid. |
12/12/08. Charles Swift--Accept Despite report being prepared a year later from memory the reddish (although described as pink by Sibley!) wing linings do seem to be a clincher for Rose-breasted Grosbeak. |
12-13-2008. Dave Trochlell--Accept I'm convinced. |
