Weisse – Accept

Although the description is minimal the flight call is diagnostic.

Cliff Weisse--Accept

I'm still convinced that the flight call described is diagnostic.

Sturts--Accept

The distinctive call note along with the facial pattern are adequate for confirming the identification.

I'm staying with my first round vote for the same reasons.

Darren Clark--Accept

Diagnostic Flight calls were well-described and the bird plumage was adequately described.

The only real field mark we are given is the call note. The bill shape and under-tail coverts not well seen. It probably was a PUFI, but we need more detailed observation and description.

I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I need more than a flight call to separate this bird from a CAFI, What was the bill shape?

Dave Trochlell--Accept

Distinctive facial pattern was seen and described, as was the bird's diagnostic flight call.

I'm going to stick with my earlier decision to accept this record, based upon the reasons mentioned in the first vote.

Hardy--Accept

I agree that the call note is diagnostic.

Same comments as first round.

It would be nice to have a better physical description on this bird but I agree that Purple Finch call notes are diagnostic and the observer's stated experience with Purple Finch makes this sufficient for accepting.

I'll vote accept again although it would have been nice to have a longer/better observation/description (I presume the flew off before this was possible). Call notes are quite distinctive in this species and the observer has good experience w/ both candidates - Purple and Cassin's Finches.
