05-04-2007. Shirley Sturts -- Accept Good description - eliminated similar species
05-05-2007. Carlisle -- Accept Though I see a need for caution on this tough identification (especially due to its raritty in the region), Cliff's notes are very thorough and he described the key separation from similar species convincingly.
05-07-2007. chuck trost -- Accept While a confusing species, the description was quite accurate. Time of year is right too.
5/9/07. Cliff Weisse -- Accept Description includes necessary field marks to confirm ID as Philadelphia Vireo.
05-11-2007. Dave Trochlell -- Accept This is a very good description of a PHVI, and I accept this candidate as a record with no reservations.
27 May 2007. Hardy -- Accept The contrasty face pattern wrt WAVI, and the yellow wash extending across breast, are fieldmarks that eliminate other possible species. Observer familiar with WAVI, the species most similar to PHVI in appearance.
6/5/07. Charles Swift -- Accept This was a tough one and gave me some concern. It is a tough, subjective identification of a species that may well be overlooked in Idaho, but is probably still pretty rare. Some important field marks were not specifically noted (for example Kaufman in Advanced Birding notes deepest yellow in center of throat and post-ocular stripe) but not spceifically excluded either. The observer is not familiar w/ the species, however, is very familiar w/ Warbling Vireo and made a good case for it not being that species. Sibley and Kaufman note a range of drab to bright individuals of this species and this individual appears to fall somewhere in the middle.
