Very thorough and convincing description.  Although this identification is challenging the report is sufficient to confirm the identification of McCown’s Longspur.

This is difficult Identification. Harry wrote a convincing report which covers all the observed field marks and comparing them with Chestnut-collared and Lapland Longspur.

Thorough and convincing report of a difficult to identify species.

I'm convinced of the identification, but wish that Smith's Longspur had also been competed.

The extensive white in the tail would indicate either Chestnut-collared or McCown's. The heavier bill and brighter undersides suggest McCown's, but these features are more subjective. This is a somewhat unsatisfying description, and I will be interested to see other the committee members' comments.

Very carfully observed and good write-up. I was a bit bothered by the blackish crown, but the rest fit this species.
