DID YOU TAKE NOTES?:
No, not at
all
DID YOU CONSULT FIELD GUIDE OR OTHER REFERENCES?:
Yes, later the same day
WHAT GUIDE(S) OR REFERENCE(S) DID YOU CONSULT?:
Sibley but I had seen this species many times in the East at both Crane Creek Magee Marsh and Pt. Pelee in Canada
DESCRIPTION:
I will attach photos. It was a Magnolia Warbler
BEHAVIOR:
HOW AND WHEN DID YOU POSITIVELY IDENTIFY THE BIRD, AND WHAT CLINCHED THE IDENTIFICATION FOR YOU? It was identified by Jack, Heidi and Jay before I got there and though I could hear it vocalizing when I arrived I am not good with their song so I knew it was a Magnolia the moment I saw it based on plumage pattern
HOW DID YOU ELIMINATE SIMILAR SPECIES, AND WHAT WERE THEY? It wasn't a Canada Warbler because the back wasn't solid gray and the "necklace" extended across the breast and the side streaks extened down the flack. Etc.
EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SPECIES (AND SIMILAR SPECIES):
GENERAL BIRDING EXPERIENCE:
lots of birding experience
WERE PHOTO(S), VIDEO, AND/OR AUDIO OBTAINED BY YOU?: Photo
