Good description with photographs. Photograph and description show the two white primary shafts. This is diagnostic for the Long-tailed Jaeger.

Parasitic normally shows 3-5 and the Pomarine 4-6.

I'm staying with my first vote for the same reason.

Although the report essentially lacks a written description it does point out the two white primary shafts visible in the photos which is diagnostic for Long-tailed and includes excellent photos. Other supporting features visible in the photos include sharply and evenly barred black and white upper- and under-tail coverts, rounded head, face appears pinched, or dished, in front of eyes (a field mark typical of Long-tailed and apparently shown only by Long-tailed - Phil Pickering personal comments), thin bill, pale streaked nape, and small gull body proportions with attenuated rear end while perched on water.

The written description was altogether too brief, but the excellent images submitted in this report make a convincing case for a dark morph juvenile Long-tailed Jaeger.

This one is clearly a Long-tailed Jaeger.

chuck trost -- Reject, specific identification not established

Excellent pictures, but I'm not convinced it wasn't a parasitic jaeger. The bill was only 1/3 dark at the tip, and there was white on the upper wing, which according to Sibley is more often shown in parasitics.

I'm changing my vote because of the excellent pictures, but am still bothered by a lack of adequate description.

The written report is lacking in details, but the photographs certainly seems to support the identification of this bird as a Long-tailed Jaeger.

The photographs still look good for Long-tailed Jaeger.
