I personally studied this bird at very close range at Lake Lowell and was convinced it was a dark-morph, juvenile Long-tailed Jaeger.

Excellent picture, but almost no description. But, photo is diagnostic, and cooberation by Sid was good.

I saw and studied this bird carefully with Sid Gauthreaux (whose note is being used as the report). The bird had been originally identified as a Parasitic. We arrived and had forgotten a field guide so studied all jaeger field marks as well as we could - key features included only 2 pale primary shafts; short, stubby tail extensions; extensive dark nail on the bill; and small size.

It seems a little unorthodox to accept a record with no written report. Am I missing something? Anyway, the bird in question seems to be a Long-tailed Jaeger
