Measurement of wing chord and details of eyering, primary projection, etc. are diagnostic for this bird in hand.

Photograph is helpful, but Jay's description and elimination of other species helps convince me.

I was at first a little uneasy with this one based on the description provided as birds in hand do not always exhibit some visual clues, particularly structural indicators, that are apparent in the field. However, bill width and short primary extension are mentioned, and the pale lower mandible is noticeable in the photograph so I believe this is a Least Flycatcher (Empidonax minimus). Of interest to me is the habitat utilization where this bird was captured during fall migration.
