Detailed report and photo are convincing -other gulls and hybrids were eliminated

The written report describes white primary tips, but in the photos, these appear incompletely developed. Perhaps this is due to the angle? Otherwise, this could be the same individual as in record 104-B-07 seen one month earlier.

This one gave me some concern for awhile. The description was excellent and I liked the looks of the bird's overall structure and smudginess for a basic-plumaged GWGU. But the bird's primary stack seemed awfully dark - almost too dark for this species. I finally decided to accept the record, because I felt that my view of the bird's primaries might be unfairly influenced by the light conditions that existed when the images were made.

Enough structural and plumage characteristics are noted, and compared to other potential candidates, to support the ID. In looking at the photos, however, the bill weight (lighter than expected) threw me a little, but it is still in the realm of Glaucous-winged (L. glaucescens); female bird?
