Although there is no mention of primary extension in the description the sketch of the perched bird is drawn with short primaries.  Otherwise this is an excellent report and all details are consistent with Glaucous-winged Gull.  The observer mentions his experience with hybrids but does not mention Glaucous-winged x Herring, which is now known to be a common hybrid combination.  That said I feel the description and sketches successfully eliminate other species as well as hybrids.

This was a convincing report. The observer noted important GWGU characteristics and differentiated this bird from other similar gulls. That said, I sure wish we could see the pictures he mentioned in his report.

Report describes diagnostic features including structure. The only odd note in this record is the primaries being concolor and not slightly darker than the back. This does not seem enough to invoke hybridization. If this record goes to a second round, perhaps the photos referred to in the report could be unearthed.

well described ... the reporter mentioned 'pictures' on page 4. Any chance that they exist?
