Cliff noted the contrast between the darker primaries and the rest of the wing which is one of the differenes between the Ringed Turtle-Dove and the Eurasian Collared-Dove. Sibley indicates, " some individuals of the Ringed Turtle-Dove show "natural" colors very similar to the Eurasian..." and suggests checking undertail coverts and tail pattern. A freind of mine had an escapted Ringed Turtle-Dove come to her feeder a couple of weeks ago. They are common in Pet Stores and do escape. I think it is important that documentation include evidence of the differences between these two species both the darker primaries and gray undertail coverts and the dark outer web under the tail (if possible to view).
