The pics didn't help much, other than size and shape, but they did show the light central crown stripe, which wasn't mentioned. Gray nape is convincing. |

An initial look through the photos of this record narrowed the choices down to Brewer's or CC (clear breast, no eye line in front of eye, etc.). This bird lacks a discernible medial crown stripe, but the streaking on the crown does not appear fine enough to be a Brewer's. That, plus the gray nape and the distinctness of the sub-moustachial stripe, are the reasons I accept this record. This would presumably be a first-winter bird, which can have an indistinct medial crown stripe according to the field guides. |

Good description & sufficient photos. This bird was present for much of the winter (I saw it late Feb or maybe early March of 2008) and maybe we can get the last date from the Foote's?? |
