The photos of 3 Spizella species in hand provided lots of opportunity for comparison. The right-hand bird in the first photo shows the distinct medial crown stripe diagnostic of CCSP. Also, interesting to note the smaller bill of the Brewer's wrt the CC and Chipping, and the subtle differences in facial patterns.

While the description is light, every mark required to ID this tough one is mentioned. I love the comparative and diagnostic photos of all three Spizellas present – particularly the fact that they are not labeled – great “quiz photo”.
