I'm staying with my first round vote.

The good description and images could lead me to no other identification conclusion than a male Cinnamon Teal.

I'm still convinced.

Actually had to stew on this one a bit as the observer didn’t discuss the potential of an eclipse/immature male Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata) which could show chestnut on the sides while retaining a dark chest and brownish head; photos not necessarily diagnostic in this case. However, considering the relative size, and the observer’s experience, I’m sure this was an early male Cinnamon Teal (A. cyanoptera).

The photos appear to be of a SY male molting into A1. I am bothered by the white patch on the flank towards the tail - though a hybrid would be less likely, I don't think these photos can rule out the possibility.

Same comments as first round.

The date is a bit early, but not by far and the photos and description are good.

The photos and description are good. I don't really see the light-colored patch.

I agree with the analysis

Hardy is right, there sees to be a white patch near the tail, which may mean a hybrid.
