I'm going to agree with Lisa that we can, for now anyway, only reliably identify accept the subspecies minima. This bird was described as being larger than a Mallard.

This seems a good candidate for a CACG, but the report does not establish that it is a minima, the only subspecies of CACG that can be reliably identified in the field. Minima is suggested by the observation that the bird was only half the size of the nearby CANG, but it bothers me that this bird is described as clearly larger than a Mallard, even at such long range, while minima are typically described as barely larger than a Mallard.		 9 August 2007.
