Weisse – Reject, specific identification not established

The description is lacking details and the photo is too distant to judge accurately.  From what I can see in the photos  the bird appears long necked, the white cheek patch is quite extensive, and the bill looks quite long for Cackling Goose.

The bill in the sharpest photo appears shallow based, similar to parvipes Canada Goose so I don't feel the documentation supports the identification of Cackling Goose.

The written description of the bird is not very detailed and the photograph doesn't clinch the ID for me.

Mallard size indicates minima subspecies.

I am voting again to accept this record, though I would feel more comfortable with the record if the head/bill structure were more discernible in the photos.

I'm not sure about this one. In the photos, the bill doesn't appear to be stubby and head appears to be more rounded. I want to see what other committee members think before voting to accept.

I'm staying with my first round vote for the same reasons.

bill & forehead shape suggest a Lesser Canada Goose

While I know that Terry Gray is a good observer, the fuzzy pictures were not adequate for me. The bill especially was not stubby enough for a Cackler.

The bill shape simply doesn't fit my image of a cackler, no matter what the size was.

Dave Trochlell--Accept

Although the images are somewhat distant and not perfectly clear, the goose appears to be a possible taverneri Cackling Goose, because of head and bill shape.

I'm rejecting this record because after a little research I've decided that the bird looks more like a parvipes Canada Goose than a Cackling Goose.
