An excellent description, with multiple observations during the day (one being within 10 feet), establishes the correct identification. Mr. Cleaver did not specifically eliminate the Long-billed Thrasher by name, but the description of the color (red-rufous) and the the bill being darker on top is sufficient for ruling this species out.

What I especially liked about this report were the details recorded about the bird's actions, especially while on the ground. The behavior reported here seemed typical of thrashers. Interestingly, there have been several previous reports of Brown Thrashers stopping at INEEL in years past.

Good description, though it seems odd that the reporter described the breast as "spotted" rather than streaked.
