HABITAT:

Indian Creek

CONDITIONS:

Bird was in flight and landed on the water of Indian Creek, where we lost sight.
Weather was, clear and sunny. Winds at about 5 to 10 MPH.
Temperture was about 65 degrees.
Observed to be in flight at about 150 feet above us and about 1/2 mile of flying timew before lamding.

DESCRIPTION:

Pelican family. Observe large wing span. Head was tucked in shoulders while in flight.

BEHAVIOR:

Was in glide mode.

EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SPECIES (AND SIMILAR SPECIES):

Have seen this bird in flight while living on Oregon and Washington coast, near the Pacific Ocean.

GENERAL BIRDING EXPERIENCE:

Have observed the many species of birds and ducks that live in and around Indian Creek as it flows through our neighborhood. We take up to two walks, with our dogs, a day and watch the ducklings as they grow and learn how to fly.
