| 06-24-2007. Sturts -- Accept Well documented, both written and photographic |
08-12-2007. Sturts -- Reject, specific identification not established After studying the pictures again, I agree with Cliff and Dave; they do appear to be the "Blue Goose" form of Snow Goose. I failed to pick up on "The pale tail and black centered tertials with white edges are typical of blue morph Snow Goose and wrong for Brant", that Cliff noted in his comments. The partial white ring around the neck mentioned in the observer's descrption fits that of the Brant but what appears to be a partial white neck ring of the bird on the left,I was told, is a grass stem. This may be what confused the observer as well as those the Committee voting to accept the record. |
| 6/24/2007. Cliff Weisse -- Reject, specific identification not established Both birds appear to be blue (or dark) morph Snow Geese. The pale tail and black centered tertials with white edges are typical of blue morph Snow Goose and wrong for Brant. |
8/15/07. Cliff Weisse -- Reject, specific identification not established See first round comments |
| 6-29-07. Carlisle -- Accept Photo & description good enough. |
8-16-07. Carlisle -- Reject, specific identification not established Upon further review (doh!), & thanks to Cliff & Dave, the 2 birds are blue Snow Geese. |
| 06-30-2007. Dave Trochlell -- Reject, specific identification not established The two dark geese in the photo that were identified as Brant appear to be dark morph "Blue" Geese, not Brant. |
08-16-2007. Dave Trochlell -- Reject, specific identification not established As I said in the first round, the two dark geese in the photo that were identified as Brant appear to be dark morph "Blue" Geese, not Brant. |
| 2 July 2007. Hardy -- Accept Photos marginal, but bird on left shows white collar. Observer states familiarity with waterfowl, and description is sufficient. |
23 August 2007. Hardy -- Reject, specific identification not established I am glad to change my vote thanks to the careful study of the photo by Cliff and Dave. I wonder where the written description came from... |
| 07-02-2007. chuck trost -- Accept The description in fairly convincing and the neck band on the one poor shot is not a cackling goose's. |
010-06-2007. chuck trost -- Reject, specific identification not established I believe they are blur morphs of Snow Geese. |
| 7/7/06. Charles Swift -- Accept I have no reservations about these being Brant. Interesting that they were migrating w/ Snow Geese. I wonder what sub-species we're dealing with here. |
8/23/07. Charles Swift -- Reject, specific identification not established As Cliff and Dave pointed out these are quite clearly "blue" Snow Geese. |
