This appears to be the first winter record for Idaho, but there are a number of January records from Washington, so a winter date in Idaho does not seem unexpected.

While the bird in the pictures is indeed a brambling, there is no information on conditions, behavior, exact locality, other observers, etc. I think we need more information before accepting this as an actual sighting in Idaho.
